How To Step Over To The Wild Side Without Taking The Zoo

Let’s face it, there’s no escaping animal prints. Arguably, it’s the modern-day neutral that comes and goes like a cat in the night.

A bit of animal print can be chic and sexy, but if you’re over 40, wear too much of it and you’re not careful, you could end up in cougar town before you know it.

Today, I share the 5 main rules of wearing animal print:

1. Don’t mix animals

Unless your Iris Apfel or a serious fashionista, please try not to mix animal prints, you don’t want to look like a zoo!

2. Introduce it subtly

If you’ve been too afraid to wear animal print, but you really want to, introduce it subtly to your look.  Start off with accessories such as a scarf, belt, shoes or bag (not all together), teamed up with solid colour outfits.

3. Don’t be all ‘matchy matchy’

Don’t try to match an animal print top with animal print shoes or bag, it just doesn’t work.

4. Avoid animal prints on the heaviest part of your body

This is the general rule for all patterns, not just animal print.  If you’re heavy on the top, then wear dark above and animal print below and vice versa.

Always remember the eye will go to the place you’re drawing attention to. Have you got great legs? Then wear animal print shoes.

5. Keep it simple

Animal print speaks for itself, so if you’re wearing an animal print shirt, you don’t need to adorn it with heavy, glitzy jewellery. Don’t let them compete for attention, as it will just over complicate your look.

Of course, this is only a guide when wearing animal print over 40.
If you’re a fan of the Camilla brand who continuously uses animal print in her designs,
then by all means channel your African goddess and wear it like a proud lioness in the jungle!

It’s all about how you feel when you wear it and we all like to take a walk on the wild side now and again!
